Learner Development

Educators understand that learners develop in their own way and at their own pace. Meaning, each student has their own cognitive, social, emotional, and physical needs. In order to meet the needs of each student, educators must regularly assess, observe, and communicate with students, parents, and colleagues. In doing so, educators can more effectively implement developmentally appropriate and challenging learning experiences that give students the skills and knowledge needed to achieve success.

Learning Differences

Effective educators recognize that each learner has their own unique interests, preferences, learning styles, and backgrounds. To support the differences of each individual, educators work to create an environment that fosters inclusivity by valuing and celebrating diversity. One powerful approach to achieving this is by providing tools and resources that aid and support students throughout their learning. These tools can help students overcome barriers to learning and access the curriculum in a way that is most appropriate for their individual needs.

Learning
Environment

Students learn best in an environment that is safe, comfortable, and supportive. A well-established learning environment promotes independent and collaborative learning, encourages positive social interaction, and fosters self-motivation in students. Educators collaborate with staff, parents, the community, and students to design a safe, comfortable, and supportive learning environment that meets the needs of all individuals.
